Christian Education and Growth Providing opportunities to find out more about the Christian faith. Meeting with others in small groups gives us opportunities to learn new things about our faith from the Bible, to see it have an increasing impact on our everyday lives and to encourage each other to remain strong and grow in faith. Two or three small groups meet either in the Church Lounge or in people’s homes. An Alpha course is held each year. Usually there is a morning Bible Study group and an evening Bible Study group. Whenever possible there is also a group that uses a Christian teaching DVD to initiate discussion. As Christians we are encouraged to pray about everything. We work with the church prayer coordinator to help set up opportunities to meet together to pray. There is a library in church and a book group that meets monthly. Over the past few years we have arranged a special event to mark the beginning of Advent. A fairly new aspect of our work involves giving a higher profile to increasing our awareness of life in other countries, using materials from a number of organisations, in order to challenge us to consider our responsibilities towards others. We pass on information about and encourage people to attend events elsewhere that are designed to help growth in faith. |
