St George’s Church Guild These hard working ladies provide a great driving force in the church. There is much more to them than meets the eye. They fund raise for the church and also for many worthwhile projects such as the Bluebell Project (helping women who have postnatal depression) and the Lydia Project (helping to empower the most hurt people in 16 European Countries) Meetings, held twice a month from September – March are well attended. The programme is varied, including topics embracing the Guild Theme and others of a wide-ranging interest. As well as keeping up with the times the members provide a collective wealth of experience, enjoy meals out, theatre visits and a good laugh. The delegates for World Mission unity, national Mission and Church & Society also report regularly on current affairs and are supported by members. Two members undertake the administration of “Church Giving” boxes to households in the congregation and the committee organises the Annual Congregational Coffee Morning, as well as continuing to visit sick and housebound members. Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are also dispatched each year to deprived children in European countries. For anyone young or old, male or female who is looking for a friendly supportive group to join, look no further. St George’s Church guild will give you a very warm welcome.
